Polaris Adjustable Clarinet Barrel
Royal Global Polaris Adjustable Barrel
- Naturally aged and dried African Blackwood or Cocobolo
- 4 point ring that allows for easily measured and repeatable adjustments, marked in .25mm increments from 64mm to 68mm
- Single twist smooth mechanism, using a double metal sleeve / socket to help prevent dimensional changes from influencing ring motion
- Inverted taper bore for increased response, better intonation, and ease of projection
*For a slightly larger bore with increased flexibility and more colors / upper partials, select the Corbin Traditional Bore. Watch the review video below by Cally's Clarinet Channel to hear the difference between each plating and bore.
The Polaris barrel stock bore is a slight inverse taper, while the Corbin Traditional bore is a hand-reamed bore with a greater taper and slightly larger bore size closer to a "Moennig" style bore. The increased taper and size provide for more flexibility, and color to the sound. In general, players who prefer the darkest and more covered sounds will prefer the stock Polaris bore. Those who prefer more color and voicing flexibility, overall resonance, and a balance of high and lows will prefer the Traditional bore.
The Polaris Adjustable barrel is available in 4 different platings. Although we believe the bore dimensions, material, and overall mass of the barrel play a larger role in the sound, many people express similar opinions about certain platings having certain characteristics. These are summarized below.
All barrels hold a 1 year warranty against manufacturer defect, including cracking not caused by user care.
