Bass Clarinet Resonator
These are hand-made and sold in small batches. The pictured resonator is the actual product you will receive.
The Corbin bass clarinet resonator is designed to be used on the neck of Buffet bass clarinets. The resonator acts as a bridge between the two-piece slide when pulling out to adjust for intonation. The combination of closing this gap created by pulling the slide and the addition of the mass on the neck provides a better connection between legato notes and large intervals, a more focused, fuller sound that is warmed by the wood vibrating with the metal, and less energy loss that allows the core of the sound to be projected with ease.
Each resonator is hand-crafted from beautifully aged, dense cocobolo or grenadilla wood and no two resonators will be the exact same. When in stock, you can choose from a ribbed resonator for slightly less mass and sweeter sound, or a thicker, solid resonator that provides the maximum projection and depth to the sound.
"Brian Corbin’s resonator for bass clarinet made an instant and profound positive difference for my stock Buffet bass clarinet neck. Immediately the sound was fuller, more focused, and my control in rapid registral shifts improved markedly. Additionally, Brian’s craftsmanship is outstanding: the resonator fit perfectly on the Buffet neck, it is sturdy, and it looks fantastic. Congratulations, Brian!"

"The bass clarinet resonator gives a fuller sound, with more zing and fluidity. It provides a singing quality and the larger intervals have more connection."
